Enameling on lava
After years spent creating contemporary design pieces for various brands and studios, Lydia Belghitar decided to modernize and innovate lava stone craftsmanship which was then outdated.
Her perfectly mastered skills allow her to create–together with head of production Jessica Richard–unique pieces designed for and by her clients. Enameling embellishes the natural and durable material that is lava, providing it with the timelessness of exceptional pieces.
Using lava stones mined in Auvergne-located Puy de la Nugère and Puy Sancy, Lydia Belghitar creates custom-made objects and furniture: table trays, light fixtures and other doorknobs.
Lydia Belghitar employs the cloisonné enameling technique which adds a unique touch to her work. She draws on the lava freehand with a felt-tipped pen, offering the opportunity to produce exclusive gradations or geometric patterns.
Her expertise, combined with the mastery of carpenters, metalworkers and cabinetmakers, gives life to exclusive contemporary design pieces.
