Art and design are the central themes of Marine's story, a multifaceted creator who has multiple degrees in fine arts, interior design and textile design. But it's very early, in her grandfather's workshop, surrounded by workers she couldn't stop looking at, that she takes a liking to metal.
Her relationship with the material is almost visceral, the pieces of metal are heavy, and sanding, cutting, moving and assembling them is a very physically compromised job... it's a demanding task with a final result that feels dainty and ethereal. The contrast between an object's material nature and our perception of it is what's at the heart of Marine's work, as is the challenge of making metal and glass converse. Each piece is handmade and unique.
