It's often said that nothing happens by chance. Ashley's life is not an exception, since the Latin root of his native Pennsylvania–« silva »–means « forest ».

Ashley has a special bond with this material, having spent most part of his childhood camping in the woods, building forts out of trunks and branches, and carving little wooden figurines.
His father, a former woodworker, gave the young boy a pocketknife that sparked his interest in sculpture. This core memory would never leave him, and it is only natural that he should later give up his career as a pilot to devote himself to his passion.
